RED QUEEN by Victoria Aveyard
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. This book is a dystopian novel talking about power differences and segregation caused after a mutation of humans caused some to have silver blood and powers, while red-bloods remained ordinary. In this book, red-blooded civilians are considered inferior to silver-bloods.
Humans with silver blood are royalty and part of the Hierarchy, red blooded people are poor and mere commoners.
We loved this book because it has very intense plot twists. The main character, Mare Barrow, is a red blood who grew up all her life being mocked and belittled by silver-bloods in her community. As a series of events unfolds, Mare is sent to live in the castle with the royal family as a servant. But as the Kingdom of Norta is attacked by red-bloods asking for more, Mare discovers that she has far more power than she realised. With everything she loves at stake, Mare is tangled in a web of lies that goes far deeper than she ever thought possible. She’s set out to fight for reds all while trying to find out who she is.
