Issue 91

December 10, 2020

Finally, we are here, at the end of what has been, for my fellow year 13s, a long, difficult, stressful, and sometimes weird term. This year has proven that no matter how upside-down things may seem, and how upside-down they may continue to get, we are able to adapt. Perhaps this has been a term spent thinking about days to come, wondering when we will go back to life the way we knew it. Or maybe, this has been a term spent thanking your blessings and being grateful that you no longer have to hear that god-awful sound of someone entering the Google Meets room (knock on wood!). Either way, these next three weeks of break are well-deserved, and regardless of where and how you plan on spending your days, I hope you enjoy yourself. After living in a reality where anything and everything is subject to change, I encourage you to live in the moment and take each day as it comes.

If you celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, I hope you enjoy this festive period, and if you don’t, I hope that you take time to be with the ones you love, friends, and family, in whatever way you can (even if it is online).

And as always, The High is by your side, keeping you updated on major happenings within our school, delivering you thoughtful opinions and perspectives, and saving you in moments of boredom. In this online edition, we have several new articles to read and some new videos to watch (check out our YouTube channel!). We hope to get you in a festive mood and to make you laugh, think, or both.

The High’s structure will be changing soon as well. As for now, we plan on releasing a printed edition of our paper once every two months. Don’t fret! We will still continue to publish articles online as well as videos and podcasts. Keep your eyes tuned for announcements on our Instagram (@thehigh.isl) and until then I hope that you, as always, continue to read, engage, reflect, and challenge us as a publication.

See you in 2021.
