“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller
Welcome back readers to Issue 112 of The High!
Born out of our writers’ wild imaginations; our theme for this issue is “Random”! As we dive into this eclectic issue, remember Ferris Bueller’s words – take a moment to appreciate the chaos around you in this busy school period and take a break by reading this issue of The High.
In issue 112, we have a diverse range of articles. For those craving some pop-culture news; Quinn keeps us up to date on the latest Hollywood headlines with the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni case and brings the glitz and glamour with Oscar predictions and Golden Globes fashion. Need some movie recommendations? Marlee is here to help! She takes us on a nostalgic trip through 2000’s Rom-coms.
Lots is also happening in ISL. Petra delivers an excellent review of ISL’s newly introduced Lunchtime Lectures and speaks to Mrs Pearcy. This interesting article delves into how the Impact Hub may affect English-orientated spaces. Interested in what the next lecture will be? Read the article! Additionally, Sera and Tanu explain the rules of teachers and students relationships post-graduation and Andrew’s article on group chat toxicity is very relevant to some of the problems our school is facing right now.
While we all love ISL news, it is equally important to stay informed about the world news! Mai reports on US healthcare and the Luigi case, Sera tackles the serious subject of Trump’s immigration policy and Sophie uncovers a cautionary tale of crypto calamity.
Lastly, we have to have our beloved book reviews! Tanu takes us on a literary journey with a double book review of Coco Mellors’ works.
This issue is a testament to the randomness of life – where pop culture, politics, and school stories collide. As always our writers have worked incredibly hard so we hope you enjoy it! As my time at The High is slowly approaching its end I am truly grateful to have worked with such creative and dedicated peers. Interested in joining? It is not too late!
