THE HOLIDAY

The Holiday is the perfect mix of a comedy and a romance. It is about two women, Amanda, and Iris who are both struggling in the dating world and both very invested in their careers (arguably too invested). One lives in L.A and the other lives in England and they have no clue the other one even exists until they arrange a home exchange for 2 weeks. When they decide they need a vacation to distract themselves from the fact they are spending Christmas alone. As they both arrive in their new houses they are prepared for a week of relaxation and no men, they both receive a knock on the door and a possible love interest enters their lives. What will happen with the women having to go back to their normal lives worlds apart in 2 weeks? I can genuinely say after watching this movie it has become one of my favourites, it’s a Christmas original and I can guarantee that if you watch it it’ll become a yearly must watch for you too!
Actors you may recognise:
Jude Law: Best known for his part in Sherlock Holmes of Dr. Watson, Eden, and the Black Rabbit.
Cameron Diaz: Charlie’s Angels, There’s something about Mary, The other women, and the Mask.
Kate Winslet: Best known for her part of Rose from Titanic, The reader, and Avatar: The Way of Water.

DIE HARD

When New York police officer John McClane flies to Los Angeles to visit his wife and kids for Christmas, he finds himself at a holiday party at Nakatomi Plaza. Unexpectedly, a group of armed criminals manage to take over the building, threatening the guests and workers. McClane manages to escape and begins his plan in order to save the hostages and reunite with his wife.
Even though Die Hard is set on Christmas eve, it is not your typical seasonal film. If what you’re looking for this winter is sharp dialogue, a tough reluctant main character and an action-charged suspenseful plot, Die Hard is the movie for you.
Actors you may recognise:
Bruce Willis: The sixth sense, Pulp fiction, Armageddon
Alan Rickman: Harry Potter, Love actually, Alice in wonderland
Where to watch:
Disney+, Hulu, Apple TV, & Peacock
THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT
The Long Kiss Goodnight is a movie following our main character Samantha Caine who is living her normal life as a school teacher and a mother even though she has focal retrograde amnesia. This means that she has no trouble forming new memories, but that parts of her past remain blank and unknown to her. While driving a friend home, Samantha has a car accident, leading to her regaining most of her memory and finding out questionable things about herself. This results in her past putting her present life and family in danger.
This movie is good if you want to break the pattern of the classical christmas movies. It still has the theme of holidays and festivity (because the movie is set close to Christmas), but it focuses more on the two lives of the main character and how these contrast one another, bringing in shootouts, carchases, explosions and excitement.
Actors you may recognise:
Geena Davis: Thelma and Louise, Beetlejuice, Stuart little
Samuel L. Jackson: Pulp fiction, Avengers, Django unchained
Where to watch:
Amazon Prime Video & Apple TV
